In many surveys, the first step is to have the participant log into the survey.  You will want to do this if you are running a contest or providing other incentives to the participants and want to prevent participants from taking the survey multiple times.  Or you may want to control access to the survey and only allow specific people to respond to the survey.
 
iDecide has two authentication methods.  The first, seen here, uses a username and password to access the survey.  The username can be the same for all of the accounts, or it can be unique for each account.  The second authentication method uses only a passcode to access the survey.  Of course, authentication is optional and you can run a survey without any.
 
The authentication page must be the first page in the survey, as all other pages are blocked unless the participant has logged in.  If you are running your survey on the iDecide servers, you can optionally use the login box on the left hand side of the iDecide pages as the login page for your survey.
